Il corso online sul connettivismo (by George Siemens e Stephen Downes) sta per iniziare. Si annuncia come un vero e proprio evento, con più di mille partecipanti, worldwide.

E' stato costituito (informalmente, of course..), un gruppo italiano dei corsisti, per supporto collaborazione sul corso, in italiano.

Il gruppo, tra gli altri "luoghi", è basato anche su una comunità interna a LTEver.

Come migliorare la progettazione dei corsi e-learning. Questo il tema della video intervista di Clive Shepard a Cathy Moore. E i suoi non sono di certo consigli da poco: il blog di Cathy, Making Change, è sicuramente uno dei blog più interessanti che riguardano la progettazione di courseware e Learning Object,una boccata d’aria fresca in un panorama rigido e stantio come quello dell’elearning per le aziende. In modo coinvolgente e originale, Cathy mostra come utilizzare in modo corretto learning object e courseware, indicando diversi principi e regole da rispettare.

Ma quali sono questi principi? Rispetto al blog, la video intervista ha il vantaggio di affrontarli in modo organico e sistematico. Vediamo in sintesi i più importanti.

1. LMS: questo è il problema

Chissà, forse molti storceranno il naso di fronte a questa osservazione. Ma  Cathy risolve la questione con una metafora azzeccata (e divertente):

if you have a hammer everything start looking like a nail

if you have a LMS every solution start looking like should be a course

Già, perchè rispetto al solito corso, spesso è più utile un sito web di supporto, uno spazio nella intranet aziendale, un’email o un workshop.

2. Distinguere le informazioni.

Ci sono informazioni e informazioni: non tutte devono essere inserite all’interno del corso. Meglio limitare il corso alle informazioni essenziali, rendendolo così più efficace. Le altre, possono essere contenute nella intranet aziendale, in modo da poter essere consultate in modo rapido e sicuro, magari all’interno dell’intranet aziendale. Stranamente questa idea è poco gradita a responsabili e committenti.

3. Dare più fiducia agli utenti.

Continuando il punto precedente, spesso, dopo aver inserito tutte le informazioni immaginabili, si blocca la navigazione del corso, così da costringere gli utenti a seguire l’intero corso. Annoiando ancora di più chi apprende. Incisiva l’idea di Cathy:

better learner are smart

Formare del resto, non significa programmare il cervello di chi apprende.

Le Google Apps cominciano ad essere parecchie.. A me personalmente in genere piacciono e le uso in modo sempre più esteso, a partire dalla start page personalizzata, passando per email, calendario, fino all’aggregatore RSS. Google Docs poi sta assumendo un ruolo di primo piano e mi sta facendo evitare diversi… viaggi . Parodiando una certa pubblicità: lavorare da casa sullo stesso documento con un collega via Google Docs, dialogando a voce via Skype, non ha prezzo!

Per conoscere meglio le diverse applicazioni sono disponibili una serie di tutorial interattivi (sorry, only in English..), molto ben realizzati, che coprono anche la parte per amministratori di rete che volessero integrare le Google Apps nelle proprie organizzazioni. Manca purtroppo una sezione dedicata a Google Reader, la mia applicazione preferita!

Uno strumento veramente notevole sia per uso personale che per uso didattico. Da un punto di vista didattico è ovviamente usabile per tutte quelle discipline che hanno caratteristiche cronologiche: Storia, Storia della Scienza, della Filosofia, dell'Arte, della Letteratura, ... Ma - dal momento che ogni corso si sviluppa nel tempo - potrebbe essere usato per visualizzare i vari materiali di studio/lavoro assegnati dall'insegnante e i vari prodotti degli allievi. Penso, per esempio, ad un suo uso in un'area di progetto.

Uno dei limiti di Second Life era quello che gli ambienti faticosamente realizzati rimanevano circoscritti alla cerchia di pochi utenti, che si sobbarcavano la fatica di scaricare, configurare un client ricco ma piuttosto complesso. Forse siamo alla vigilia del superamento di questo limite, con il progetto OpenSim.

Intanto abbiamo assistito alla trasmigrazione di un Avatar da un ambiente all'altro. E appaiono le premesse per accedere ai mondi di OpenSim attraverso SecondLife e viceversa.

Credo che ciò sia molto proficuo per il mondo della formazione.
